4 Point Reduction On Driving Record
If you incurred violatins during the 18 month period prior to completing the course, up to four points will be reduced on your driving record, thereby helping you to avoid a license suspension. However, it will not cancel a mandatory suspension or revocation, e.g.. 3 speeding convictions within 18 months nor will it cancel any action pending against a motorist's driving privileges. You may take the 6-hour course every 18 months for point reduction purposes.
The 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
This class is required by the New York State Department Of Motor Vehicles for all new drivers with a valid New York State Learners Permit. This course must be completed before a road test appointment can be scheduled. The course consists of lecture and video segments. The course covers the importance of safe driving habits such as using the seat belt, driving mistakes and how to correct them, the difference from driving in good weather and bad weather. Different road signs and what they mean, and much more.

The 6-hour Safety course given at Academy Driving School.
Academy Driving School is certified and licensed to give the 6-hour safety course. We use up to date behavior modification approach to promote driver improvement. We use modern multimedia techniques, we will teach you the roles and responsibilities of the individual driver, traffic laws, emergency and defensive driving methods. There are no tests to pass and there is no driving involved.
